Days 1-2: London to Lake Garda
We depart St Pancras International on a latemorning Eurostar service for Paris, then travel onwards by high-speed train to Mulhouse for our overnight stay at the Hotel Mercure Mulhouse Centre. On Day 2 we cross the Swiss border and travel via Basel to Milan, where we change for our local train on to Peschiera. Our coach meets us and transfers us to the 4* Hotel du Lac for the next five nights in Bardolino, on the shores of Lake Garda. (Day 2-B,D)
Day 3: Discovering Lake Garda
This morning we set out on a scenic coach tour of the lakeside towns and villages with our local guide, after which the afternoon is free to explore Bardolino. Perhaps take a stroll along the peaceful lakefront, or the more adventurous can walk into the hills for panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. (B,D)
Day 4: Optional excursion to Verona
Today is free to relax or alternatively why not take the opportunity to visit the lovely city of Verona, with its ancient centre boasting many magnificent Roman ruins, on our optional excursion? We enjoy a guided tour of the main sites including the imposing Roman amphitheatre and Castelvecchio, Verona’s impressive castle, before enjoying some free time to explore at your own pace. (B,D)
Day 5: New Year's Eve
We enjoy a day at leisure on New Year’s Eve. You could visit one of the lively neighbouring towns; Malcesine is particularly atmospheric, with its picturesque Old Town buildings clustered at the foot of the imposing castle. Enjoy a stroll round the quaint harbour with its pastel-painted houses or take the cable car up the nearby Monte Baldo mountain for a fantastic view over the glittering lake.We celebrate New Year's Eve with a gala dinner at the hotel accompanied by live music and dancing. Day 6: Free day on New Year's Day
New Year’s Day in this beautiful region is at leisure, and a brunch is provided for those desiring a lie-in. Alternatively, you may prefer to wander through the medieval Old Town or take a pleasant walk along the shoreline to the nearby town of Garda,We enjoy a farewell candlelit dinner tonight. (B,D)
Days 7-8:To London
We transfer by coach to Desenzano for our train to Milan.We join the onward service which skirts beautiful Lake Maggiore and takes us over the border into Switzerland.We travel through heavily forested valleys, cloaked in sparkling snow and past ravines, with crystal-clear water tumbling down over rocks, on our way to the delightful city of Interlaken. Here we spend the night at the Hotel Carlton-Europe, which is well situated in the centre of town. On Day 8 we leave Interlaken by train for Paris then travel onward by Eurostar to St Pancras International. (Day 7-B: Day 8-B)

The superb 4* Hotel du Lac in Bardolino is located on the lakefront with its own private beach and heated indoor pool.
